Details
This is a vocationally related qualification and includes all the required elements to develop your practical hair and beauty skills including a mandatory unit in creating an image based on a theme. Through this unit you will create a total look on a client including hair, make-up and nails based on a theme. You will learn how to create a mood board detailing all of your ideas for the total look. You will gain the skills needed to communicate your ideas and you will be able to understand why creating a mood board is an important part of developing your overall look.
You will also have the opportunity to further develop your understanding and skills by selecting optional units including: face painting, basic nail art, eyebrow shaping, basic skincare, basic photographic make-up, basic manicure, basic pedicure, blow-drying and finishing hair, basic curl winding techniques, shampooing and treating the hair, basic plaiting and twisting hair, colour using semi-permanent colour, basic clipper cutting techniques for men's hair, basic cutting techniques for women's hair.
How will it be delivered?
The course is assessed using a combination of practical observations and theory based unit packs to evidence under pinning knowledge. Students will practice on both training blocks and each other to gain the experience necessary to complete the qualification.
Entry requirements
As this is a Level 2 qualification you should ideally have already achieved a Level 1 qualification. Although, we have no formal entry requirements.

This qualification will prepare you for an apprenticeship in hairdressing or beauty therapy as a hairdressing or beauty therapy apprentice, in the hair and beauty sector.
