Overview
This qualification is ideal for candidates who want to work as a Carpenter or Joiner in the construction industry. It will help you learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in carpentry or joinery. The course is delivered in our large construction department where you will gain skills and knowledge to enable you to produce basic woodworking joints and safely using various hand and power tools.

You will be required to gain the following units:

Principles of building construction

Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools

Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools

Produce woodworking joints

Health, Safety and Welfare in construction
How will it be delivered?
Unit 101 Principles of building construction and Unit 201 Health, Safety and Welfare in construction are each assessed by an online multi choice test
The remaining units are assessed by a practical assignment to cover performance outcomes and a multi choice question paper to cover the knowledge outcomes
Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements however your skills and ability will be assessed to ensure you have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification successfully.
Your next steps...
This qualification allows students to progress into employment, apprenticeship or into further training to gain a level 2 in Site Carepentry or level 2 in Bench Joinery.
